How It Works

This tool parses raw HTTP responses or standalone JSON/XML bodies entirely in your browser. No data is sent to any server.

  • Format — detects the body content type (JSON or XML) and pretty-prints it with indentation and syntax highlighting
  • Minify Body — removes whitespace from the response body for compact output
  • Extract Body — strips headers and status line, leaving only the response body
  • Extract Headers — shows only the HTTP headers in a structured table

The parser recognizes full HTTP responses (starting with HTTP/), raw JSON, and raw XML. When a full HTTP response is provided, it separates the status line, headers, and body automatically.

About API Responses

An HTTP API response consists of three parts: a status line, headers, and a body. The status line contains the HTTP version and status code. Headers carry metadata such as content type, caching directives, and authentication tokens. The body contains the actual data, typically in JSON or XML format.

HTTP Status Code Reference

  • 1xx Informational — request received, continuing process
  • 2xx Success — request successfully received, understood, and accepted
  • 3xx Redirection — further action needed to complete the request
  • 4xx Client Error — request contains bad syntax or cannot be fulfilled
  • 5xx Server Error — server failed to fulfill a valid request

Common Response Headers

  • Content-Type — media type of the body (e.g., application/json)
  • Content-Length — size of the body in bytes
  • Cache-Control — caching directives for the response
  • Authorization — authentication credentials
  • X-Request-Id — unique identifier for tracing requests
  • X-RateLimit-Remaining — remaining API calls in the current window
